I'm surprised nobody has even mention Inclusion Body Disease yet. If this just recently sprung up, I'd get that checked out. The disease causes neurological damage, and, unfortunately, there is no cure and is always fatal in pythons.

I think nobody mentioned it because its a pretty big jump to make without first ruling out the more likely causes, i.e. environmental, parasitic etc.

It is my understanding that IBD in Pythons is lethal within weeks.
To the OP. You said this started in the summertime, correct? Simply gleaning from the description you give as to the behavior of the animal and that small yet crucial piece of information it sounds like heat related Brain damage.
However, that is not to say their aren't other possible factors.
Couple of quick questions.
1. How well is the ambient temp in the room and enclosure regulated
2. Do you or Have you ever used Bleach or other chemicals to clean your pets enclosure, fixtures or waterbowl?
