    South Dakota

Greetings from Sioux Falls, South Dakota! I have had the great pleasure of meeting a handful of you as my balls have settled in. For which I am grateful...

At nearly 40 years old, the ball python addiction has taken me by storm. The more I learn, the more in love I am with these beautiful animals! I currently have two Balls: one 2012 female Normal and one 2012 female Spider. I plan on adding a male Pastel from a 2013 clutch this fall and can hopefully give breeding a try in a few years to produce some Bees...

I have worked in I.T. for nearly 15 years and still love going to work every single day. My wife and I and our two sons are a recent transplant to Sioux Falls, SD due to access to better health care for my wife. We both grew up in and recently moved from Minnesota...

I have a bit of an odd sense of humor, but love to make others laugh...so watch out!! Life is wayyy too short to take everything so seriously and love learning something new every single day...

Let me know if there is anything I can be of assistance with...always here to serve!

    Re: South Dakota

Hey nice to meet you, when I saw the name Sioux Falls pop up I had to respond, I actually live in Las Vegas now but moved here from Sioux Falls, SD. I lived there for years and actually was born in MN. I actually work in I.T. as well and currently have 3 ball pythons. 2 normals 1 male (he was my first purchase) and 1 female (I rescued her off CL) and 1 bumble bee male (he's still a baby). Just thought I'd respond since I could relate to so much in your post.

Welcome to the site! We would love to see some pics of your snakes! Also, just thought I would mention it because you said you were interested in breeding, but please try to pick out the best examples of morphs that you can. Especially when you will be producing more common morphs like pastels, spiders, and bees, you want to make sure that your breeders are good examples of a morph, as it will carry over to your babies. The market is flooded with crappy pastels and bumblebees, and it is hurting the breeders who strive for quality over quantity. Give this thread a read, I think it has some fantastic points http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...breeding-stock

Also, I think that it would be a good idea to go with a double gene male instead of a pastel. With the market the way it is, double gene males can be had pretty frequently for less than $500. With 2 genes, you could make some awesome combos! I would try to pick up a firefly, pastel lesser, pastave, pastel spotnose, or maybe even a pastel enchi!

Sorry to flood you with stuff, but when I got started, I got a pastel male as well. I love him to pieces, but he is not the most amazing example, and he doesn't give me much genetic diversity for breeding.

Best of luck on whatever you decide to get!

    Re: South Dakota

Many thanks for the insight...I will definitely take it into consideration as I am here to help and not hurt our industry. I have a few years before I can even think about breeding, but this information will help steer my path...
