    Building a tank lid

I need some advice on building a tank lid for pretty cheap.

    I have a 40g long terrarium i think?

    its 36"x18"x13"

and it has a dual locking lid and a plastic rim. i thought of de-rimming it and building a wood rim

its to temp. house my red tail until i can build a nice enclosure for him and my balls.

he is about 4 1/2' and in a 20 long and he hardly has room to move

You can get a couple small pieces of plywood 3/8"+ thickness. Cut them to fit in the plastic lip on the tank. Make sure to put something heavy on top to prevent escape. The plywood will help keep humidity in so you may want to seal or paint the inner side. If you use a heat lamp just cut a hole and attach some 1/4" steel mesh on top. Hope this helps.

Also according to your measurements it is a 30 breeder.
