Digestion question

So, just wondering, and I'm pretty sure it's right, but young boas should digest food even more slowly than an adult like in pythons right? Due to using as much of the foods nutrients as possible.

thats a good question. I dont have an answer for you but from my observation i'd say no. my 87g bci poops about every 6-7 days and eats again. my sub adult bci's only poop about every 14 days or so. and my dumerils seem to pee every day but only poop about once a month lol. I honestly have no clue but thats what happens here at my zoo.

Well that's actually the exact animal I'm inquiring about, a Dumerils!!! She doesn't seem to poop often, it's like she holds it all in then POP goes the weasel lol

I'm not sure if its slower than an adult or that they are just using more of the rat.

I would think an adult would be slower. I feed my younger ones once a week and adults twice a month.

My Dumeril's has gone into shed so I have only fed her once.

all three of my dums have a different schedule. Im starting to think there is no norm for them. lol My male will only eat about every 3 to 4 weeks and only after he has dropped a load for me to clean up. My lil girl will eat eat and eat and eat then theres a log about the same size as her when she poops about evey 3 feedings. and my big girl will eat and poop almost at the same time. I feed them every 14 days. my big girl is 34 lbs and just shy of 7 feet. my lil girl is 1800ish grams and about 4.5 feet. and my male is 4 feet and only 1600 grams. i've never had a baby one so not sure on that. I rescued all three of mine. They are great animals! I hope to maybe produce some in a couple years.

Boas have much slower metabolism than balls. My boas don't go nearly as much as balls.

No, younger snakes (as in most species) have faster metabolisms than adults, and so need to eat more often. That's part the reason why if you have an adult boa that refuses to eat for 6 months, it's not as big a deal than if a baby won't eat for 6 months.
