    Re: Het markers

So if this is a type of marker and bred him to a het pied female I should get pied babies and that would be proving him out right.

possible. my het has that same orange spot. alot of poss hets do. could be poss het pied.

i dont believe a normal would have that orange spot but what do i know. got more pics of him?

to prove a het pied. you would have to breed him to a het pied to prove them out. like both of mine are the same clutch. 100% het x 100% het.

could take 1 try could take 10 tries to get a pied.

Your best bet to prove it out would be to use a visual Pied. Why take a chance on a 100% Het or PH? The visual Pied would also ensure you get at least 100% Het babies.

Pied x 100% Het gets you 50% odds at a visual Pied.

    100% x 100% only gets you 25% odds at a visual Pied.

thought the best way to prove them out would be to do 100% het x 100% het. and if one comes out visual then they are hets?

with a pied x poss het or het you would only have a chance to get a pied and hets, and it doesnt prove it out, its like breeding a pied x normal but with the hets if you get a visual?

    or did i miss something

    Yes you did...

Pied x poss het....if you end up with any visuals, your poss het is then no doubt a het.

    You missed a lot..........................
You are trying to prove out one snake, not two.
When dealing with recessive genes, both snakes have to carry the gene to get a visual.
If you use a visual to a het/ph and get a visual in the clutch then you have proven out your het/ph BUT if you don't get any visuals then you at least know the clutch is all 100% het because you used a visual in the pairing.

    okay i understand.

    thanks for clearing that up

i was thinking of you had a pied x het then it would be like a pied x normal that you might get a pied because of the visual, but all you would have is hets not a visual. but i understand

with a pied x het if you get a pied its proved out.
