    Beginner GTP Questions

I've been planning on getting a hatchling BP at a show that is coming up in march, but upon further research I'm liking Green Tree Pythons more and more. My biggest question is: Can you comfortably house a GTP (hatchling) in a 10 gallon tank? From what I've read it seems that it should be fine, but I may be completely wrong in this. Also, is there anything big about GTP's that I should know (other than care) prior to purchase? They seem a bit nippy as well, but is this mainly the WC animals? Thanks in advance!

    Re: Beginner GTP Questions

I don't have a GTP yet, but from what I've read a 10 gallon should be fine for a while. If anything I would use that tank set up on it's side and put 2 branches at different heights. But I'm not sure how you would heat it.

Personally, I wouldn't use a tank with one of these guys. At least get something that opens in the front. If possible, a pvc enclosure would be your best option, although they don't really make them small enough for a yearling gtp. You could start with a tub and then move to a small exoterra tank. That is what I am using for my 1.5 year old GTP. 12"x12"x18" exo terra with the screen top completely covered with plexiglass.
