Thank you all so much, it really helps that this community is so supportive.
Right now one of my issues involves my insurance. They are insisting on not paying for anything so even though I pay $1700 a year for it, I can't use it. Coupled with my severe social and phone anxiety doesn't help me to try and fix the issue with insurance. I have luckily been able to keep refilling my prescription for Citalopram, which helped for awhile, not sure if I need a higher dose but it doesn't affect me anymore. Already at 40mg, would rather not have more.
I do, however, have access to counseling through my college. Thank you guys for helping me with that decision, I will definitely take advantage of that.

The first step is always the hardest dear.
Take advantage of what your school offers, it's a place to start. And as a bonus, they will have access to more information and low cost resources for you.
Please let us know how things are going, I for one would really like to hear from you.

On a similar vein... I think I'm checking into a psych ward tonight. My wife decided not to come home because I've been so volatile and unstable. I can't do a night on my own.

It sounds like that's a good call. I hope there's a bed available for you in a place where you'll be safe until things are a little more under control. Kudos to you and your wife for knowing when the stakes are too high. Best of luck to you both.

Overcoming self-loathing
I happen to work mental health. I would definitely recommend getting connected with talk therapy. You should be able to through your school and you may even be able to get your medication through your school as well. Most college counseling centers have a psychiatrist on staff, especially nowadays. Another avenue is if you have a training clinic nearby connected to a university. Oftentimes they will offer services at a reduced rate and on a sliding scale since their therapists are trainees. Your citalopram may not be dosed correctly or possibly it may not be the best fit medication for you. A psychiatrist could help figure that out. And a good thing to keep in mind, the match between you and your therapist is key. If you have a hard time connecting after a few sessions, it's ok to try someone new. Hope some of this is helpful!
