Ventilation in egg tubs
How may of you poke holes in the egg tubs for ventilation? How much air to the eggs need? If I did not put holes could I just open the tubs for a second every week or so?

I don’t poke holes in mine, I seal them up as well as I can to hold humidity. I open them up once a week maybe, just to check that all is well.

it seems to be a matter of preference, I know people who seal them up and open them once a week or so to allow air exchange and others who add a small hole or two to allow some ventilation during the whole process. If you can keep the humidity way up there for the duration it becomes a choice on which method you prefer.
I personally use the 9.75" wide deli tubs (3" high or 5" high) with the pre-punched holes. I cover 10 out of the 12 with electrical tape for the duration of incubation, then in the last couple of weeks, when they start producing additional heat at that stage of development, I open an additional hole (or two) as needed. It works great for me so that's how I will continue to do it! Find what works best for you and go with it!!

I have 4 tiny holes in our tubs, otherwise the humidity goes to 100% and I get dripping off of the lids.
It's all in how you set up your tubs and what type of tubs you use.

I have 2 holes in my tubs...I never touch them until they are 2 weeks from hatching.

I don't have any holes but my tubs are not air tight either.

No holes here and I only start airing out eggs by opening the tubs starting 1 to 2 weeks before hatch date.

I don't poke holes and I don't use press-n-seal or locking tubs. The cheap shoebox tubs have enough airflow. I don't worry about opening the tub till closer to hatching date.
