    DIY Incubator

Can I use this http://orlando.craigslist.org/for/3485596009.html to make an incubator? Will the round shape be a problem with heat tape or fan?
I guess I could put the fan on top?

    Thanks

Those kind of coolers are only accessible from the top, which would be a huge pain, IMO, for accessing egg tubs.

You could probably do it, but it would be tricky to put more than 2-3 egg boxes in there. I'd look for something that has a more regular shape. Also, this one I believe is just for cooling drinks with ice, it is not meant to hold a steady temp for a long period of time. I believe the lid doesn't really have a good seal. You might see some temp swings with this kind of cooler.

I've seen people use those top loading fridge/freezers before but they have a much larger footprint.

You could get a cheap foam cooler. Its not my favorite choice but they are cheap and easy to find. A mini fridge or wine cooler will also work.

This is why you set up your incubator before you even start pairing

I see so many people each year run into this no incubation issue because they wait until the last minute and then panic because they aren't prepared.

That round thing would work for a few clutches, but being round means a ton of lost space, I would pass.

Place a "Want to buy" ad instead of waiting for one to pop up.
Make sure to use keywords like mini-fridge, true cooler, commercial fridge, etc

and one of the most important things to look for is that the door seal is in good condition.
