    Enclosure too big??

    Hi,
I built a new enclosure for my BP and he has been hiding ever since he has been in there. the enclosure measures 4 X 4 X 2.
I do have hides in there but it is a multi level enclosure and he stays on the second level and never comes out of his hide!
    Please Help!!!!

Which measurements are which? is it 4 feet long x 4 feet tall x 2 feet wide?

That is an extremely large cage for a Ball Python. The largest I would recommend is a 4 x 2 x 1 (L x W x H) and that is only for full grown adults.

Keep in mind that a hiding ball python is a happy ball python. They aren't very active snakes especially not during the day.

How are you heating this cage/maintaining humidity in this monster of a cage?

Ball Pythons are terrestrial (ground dwelling) snakes, multi-level cages don't really make sense for them.

The heat lamps aren't actually inside the cage are they?

Could you post a picture of this cage? How does the heat penetrate through the levels?

Here is how to post pictures: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...with-pictures)

Whoa, that is definitely a lot bigger than I would prefer to keep them in.
Is that the snake on top of the hide in the top left? It looks small and I kind of doubt he can reach that water safely... the height of those levels also kind of worries me because I would never doubt a BP falling off the edge and that really looks like it would be a bit of a fall.
