A couple belly scales swollen
About a week ago I took my female ball python to the vet and she does have an infection. She is on antibiotics and she has to be soaked in a solution every day or every other day. Yesterday when we were giving her, her antibiotic I noticed that half way up her body on her belly about 2-3 scales feel and look like they are filled with a fluid. The fluid is clear and she is not red at all in that area and it does not seem to hurt her at all. When I touched that area she did not try to pull away at all. Everything I have read usually they have some kind of redness or the fluid is not clear, Im not completely sure if this is from the antibiotic or what. I am at work right now so I can not take any pictures but she shed right before I took her to the vet because that is when I started to notice the infection. She is going back to the vet on January 5th for a check up so if this does not go away I will bring it up then.
But I have had her for 5 years and everything is good in her enclosure. The humidity is right and so is the temperature. Im gonna keep an eye on it over the weekend but if anyone else has seen this before if someone could let me know what it is. Remember it is not red or sensitive at all to her. Plus the fluid is clear and it does not smell at all. When I ran my finger across it a very small amount came out on my finger so that is how I know that it is clear and does not smell.

Re: A couple belly scales swollen
I actually just called my vet and they said to keep an eye on it like I was planning on doing and if it gets any worse to call them and that she should be okay until her next appointment. But Im still curious if anyone else has had this or heard of this

The picture actually makes those scales look a little red but they are actually not, they might have a small pinkish tint to them but thats just because she was laying on her head pad so that could be because of that.

I'd say that was a burn. How are you controlling her heat pad?

Im not thinking that it is a burn because it is not sensitive to her at all plus I have a thermo gun that I check the heat side of the tank all the time to make sure that it is not getting to hot. The heating pad is around 85 degrees give or take a degree.

But what are you controlling the heat pad with? You do have a thermostat on it? With out one, you risk burning or killing your snake.

I do have a rheostat controlling the heat on my heater, so I know that my heater is not malfunctioning, sorry I thought that I typed that in my last post

Is your snake digging in through the substrate and sleeping directly on the glass over the heat pad? I ask because, my temps were fine too, according to my thermometer and infrared gun, but mine kept coiling round and round until she was lying directly on the glass and managed to get a minor burn anyway. She's temporarily on newsprint while she heals, instead of the substrate I normally use, and she's now in shed, so her damaged scales should be better in short order - But just wanted to toss that out there, as I've had all kinds of worried nights over mine having belly skin problems all due to her heat pad, even though it was technically not "too hot".

I haven't seen her do that but u never know. When I called my vet today she thinks it's just because she does have an infection and if that's what it is then it won't get any worse bc she is on the antibiotic. So I mean I guess I will just have to keep an eye on it and make sure that it does not get an worse
