foray into blood pythons
Picked up my first blood python today. I have bred ball pythons, years ago. I got out of snakes for awhile, but finally got something new. She's a super stripe ghost.

Yeah, I agree with aahmm, that looks like a Borneo Short Tail, actually! But they're virtually identical in terms of care, just different locales, and they're ALL called blood pythons, so there's a lot of confusion. Don't feel bad.
The bloods are the p. brongersmai and are the bigger red dudes (for the most part, anyway!) that can also be a variety of morphs/albinos, the Borneo STPs are the p. breitensteini and are generally red-brown/black, and can come in morphs like your beautiful little gal up there. Then there's the Sumatran 'black blood' short tail, p. curtus, that is the smaller one of the group, and has only about three morphs (chrome head, yellow head, and all black) if I recall correctly.
