    New Tank Set Up

So, I just got my BP yesterday, and I'm trying to get the tank set up perfectly.

I have one side at 85, with a hot spot at 90, and the cool side is at 80. My boyfriend picked up those stick to the tank thermometers and hydrometers because he thought that was good. I've been using the probe thermometer from my hedgehog cages to check the temp, except I can't keep doing that. Are those little $10 probe thermometers good for the long run, or would it be best to get one of those weather station type deals?

Another problem I'm having is with humidity. I'm able to keep it at about 40%, but I'm constantly spraying it. I'm using a CHE which is causing a lot of the water loss... but CHEs are easy for me to use and I usually have extra bulbs around since I use them on the hogs as well. I posted about using a tank humidifier but even those are confusing. Some folks use them, some don't, some absolutely hate them.

I also have one of these little plants that he likes to sleep on top of. Oh, how sad he'll be when he finds out that the suction cup won't hold him when he gets bigger.

Thanks for all of your help!

For $12 these acurite thermometer/hygrometer combos sold in Walmart are the best deal. They aren't the most accurate but they get the job done.

I concur. And using the instructions I found on this forum, I was able to mod mine so I had three probes (2 temp and 1 humidity) to go in the tub and keep the unit itself outside the tub for easy viewing. The modification was very easy and the instructions straight forward. hardest part was getting the hang of soldering.
