A lil over 2 months and still wont eat

Fang the 1yr old BP that I got my son still has not ate in 2 months . I am a lil worried and I know sometimes BP go off feed due to setup conditions and sexual maturity , but the temps are fine but it has been hard to keep humidity up and I have gotten that under control. He is not dehydrated as he is drinking some. I am thinking of giving him a gerbil to see if this will entice his hunger , I know he could get hooked but I want him too eat. He also at times seems sluggish and he just has a shed last week.

My daughter has a YB that went off feed at about 1 yr of age. It lasted for about 80+ days. Last year breeding season it went off for 110 days. It happens. Just monitor its weight and make sure your husbandry is correct. Try offering food about once every two weeks right now. It wont hurt since he's not eating anyways. As long as there is no illness he should start back up eventually. Patience, try not to worry, and good luck.

Re: A lil over 2 months and still wont eat

You should describe your set up as well as tell us your actual temps, how many hides are there and are they the appropriate size, etc.. Every time I have had had a bp go on a fast, husbandry was playing a roll, or needed to be adjusted to end the fast. Insecure or stressed ball pythons will refuse to eat. Correct the source of the stress and you should have results. If your set-up is appropriate and your temps are ok, but not approaching the upper limits, increasing the overall temps by a few degrees may help. Good luck.
