Re: Oh wow, did you guys see the Super Gravel?!

Not sure that ad makes much sense regarding the genetics of the gravel. Super gravel is sweet though. Last I heard it was very difficult to identify a gravel looks like someone figured it out.

Apparently the person who produced the gravels couldnt tell them apart from YBs or normals so he didnt sell any of them. Probably why you don't see much gravel stuff

i'm just going on memory here.. but i remember seeing a "bonfire" morph, from NERD i think, in a white plains picture thread. i think i remember the pattern being very similar. found the thread but the pictures were taken down.

Re: Oh wow, did you guys see the Super Gravel?!

Just to clarify the Gravel gene a little bit....

The "Highway" ball python was produced by coincidence from what was believed to be a CH imported YB to another YB in attempt to make ivories. Instead, out popped the first highway which was named by Susan, the manager at The Animal Company owned by Bill Brant.

The "Het Highway" was coined "Gravel" by Bill as a new name to match the naming schemes like the Spark and Specter and remove the "Het" name.

Now, a Gravel (Het Highway) looks like a YB like I previously stated, so when you breed a "Highway" to a normal you get Yellow Bellies and Gravels (Het Highways) because the highway is a homozygous (allelic combo) in the YB complex. Problem being is they look very similar so the sale of Gravels from Highways hasn't been possible with any kind of guarantee, so it simply hasn't happened. By proving out Gravels by breeding them to YB's to make Highways, then guarantees the genetics of Gravels in future breedings. There are some markers that are noticeably different on Gravels than YB's, however it's not "full proof" proven at this point.

The explanation of the Gravel (Het Highway) in the fauna ads is completely inaccurate. A Het Highway is a Gravel, and at this point PH reptiles has not even produced a highway to anyone's knowledge. I really have no idea what they are even trying to say? This Super Gravel is the product of combining two Gravels (Het Highways) together.

and I must say the result is extraordinary!! Congrats to Bill and The Animal Company.

Yeah, I saw their controversial post on the "Original HGW" and the nonsense that went on afterwards. I just ignore their ad .
