You would produce Normals that are 50% het for Pied and Albino.

To break it down even more.. Each of the normal babies would have a 50% chance of being het for pied, and a 50% chance of being het for albino. This does not mean that every baby would be double het for pied and albino. This only means that every baby would be a 50% possible double het.

One baby might end up proving to be het for pied but not for albino and vice versa.

Honestly, you could only sell them as normals that are 50% possible double hets for those genes. If you wanted to try to produce your own morphs, you'd have to hold back all of them to raise up and breed together. Then you have to keep accurate records of which male was bred to which female. Then when the clutches hatch, if you get any pieds or albinos in a clutch, you'd know that pair was now proven to be 100% het for that gene. If you got really lucky and got an albino pied, you'd know that pair was now proven to be 100% double het.

If you have a clutch that gave you only normals, you could try again the following year, since it often takes more than one breeding to prove out possible hets, or just go with them just being normals that didn't prove because they didn't actually inherit the genes from your original 100% het pair..

This is a really difficult way to go. You should just get a pair of 100% het for the same gene. That way it won't take years of breeding and holdbacks and breed backs trying to prove out possible hets just to get a visual morph..

A 50% chance het albino that is also 50% chance het piebald has a combined 25% chance of being double het for albino pied.

I bred a 4/9 chance double het albino pied male (66% het albino and 66% het pied) to a het albino female and when he didn't prove het albino I kept the 33% chance het pied and 50% chance het albino daughters with the pied markers. The first one to breed proved het pied. I'm holding back 2.1 of her pied babies in the hopes they hit their 25% chance het albino. Oh, and they are also 12.5% chance het VPI axanthic from their dad, lol. Can you tell I like possible hets?

So it wouldn't be a very smart breeding...? It would be better to breed together two Albino piebald or vise/versa.

If you could afford/find two albino piebalds. You could breed a piebald to albino and been the babies together, and hopefully they are double het. Pretty tricky and very long to produce. I would start with something "easier".

Actually, of you bred a visual pied to a visual albino all the babies WOULD be 100% double het for albino and pied. They would all be normal in appearance but they would all be carrying both genes. A visual always passes on the gene to anything it produces.

Thanks for the correction, dunno what I was thinking. But still only a 1/16 shot of hitting albino pied. I don have the patience lol.

Please do some more reading before choosing to breed: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...Basic-Genetics

There are also some very good threads on hatchling care stickied at the top of the forums.
