How studly can males be?
So here's my question:
Say you want to breed year round, or close to. If I have one male, and breed him to say, 2-3 females in Jan/Feb, and then another girl is ready come June, would I be able to give him a go again? Or do males need the months off like females? Is it just a play-by-ear as long as he's feelin' "frisky" and eating well? How long between breeding sessions should you give your males a rest? (I'm not talking about the 3days in, 3 days out, but actual pairing time frame)

The problem you would likely run into is having your male lose a lot of weight. Many breeding males won't eat while breeding. If you breed them small this can be a problem. Then if you have one who is a very willing breeder and you don't allow him enough separation time to get him eating again you can also run into the problem of prolapse. Over breeding a single male that is the type to lock and stay locked for extended periods is more prone to prolapsed hemipenes.
Always make sure you give your males enough time off to get them eating if they go off feed during the season, and keep an eye on their vent area if they are very prolific.

And you never know for sure if your female will be interested in breeding year round. It's easier to just plan on breeding during the winter months. I tried pairing a few of my girls early and only one was interested. I could tell she wanted to breed because she was glowing like crazy.

I agree with the above posters. But if your male eats during season, then i would say 3 months breeding 2 months nonbreeding then pairings again for 3 months breeding again.
