I'm gonna do the honesty thing here - I don't think ONE pet BP is enough. Having owned most domesticated animals at one point or another in my life, I can testify to the fact that snakes are DEFINITELY at the top of my list for several reasons. The effort/energy it takes to care for one properly is roughly 1/10th of what it takes to care for...let's say...a dog.

That said, I own a dog, too...and love her to death. Buy my snakes are, by far, my favorites.

    GET THAT PEWTER!! They're stunning!!!

And get a Pied, while you're at it.

    And a Spinner Blast.

    And a Banana.

    And a Desert Ghost.

    And a Champagne.

    And...and...and
I'm all about ease of care! But is it so easy when you have 900 of them?
It's never a problem to get someone to come feed my cat (I also require my cat sitter to talk to her in a pleasant voice, and give her hugs, but I'm not sure she actually does), but I don't think people are as willing with snakes. My cat weighs 19 pounds and my sister is seriously concerned for her safety....because I have a 210 GRAM snake in the house.

I'm really trying to hold off and have just one snake. You guys aren't helping

I've managed to only have one snake, my normal male cornsnake "Slinky" for seven years, but that's because my mom wouldn't let me get any more snakes. She used to be afraid of them. I tried getting into other species of animals- lizards, birds (not that I don't love my sweet african grey parrot Suit), hedgehogs, but what I really wanted was more snakes. She realized that and I quickly went from one to 10.

Started with 2 normal ball pythons in a package deal. 3 weeks later I had my first spider ball. Bought a 40 gal Exo Terra front door terrarium on black friday(SO SWEET), and now I'm looking for a new home for my normal BP girls to make room for my red blood python. I'm out of space! I want more! I want to breed a mystic potion! AAAH What to do!

    Re: Just out of curiosity...

Hello. My name is Breanna and I'm addicted to reptiles.

I bought my first corn snake in August of 2012. 15 months later, I have 5 corn snakes and 3 ball pythons. I do plan on breeding. Hopefully my girls will be ready by this time next year. My male is going to a friend around Christmas to be bred. I'll be getting one of his daughters. I also have plans to get another corn snake and another female ball python next February. I'm also upgrading my rack to hold more snakes so I can eventually get more. I plan on only breeding one corn snake a season but my ball pythons every season. We'll see how it goes. My largest corn snake is only 140ish grams, so she HOPEFULLY will be ready to cool next winter. We'll see how it goes.

Also, go ahead and get that pewter I want one as well...and an albino, and a pied, and a cinnamon, and a bumbleebee, and....

I have an African Grey as well. He's actually my boyfriend's and he basically hates my guts. But he lives in my house and he doesn't make the rules, so I say he's mine

    Re: Just out of curiosity...

5-6 years ago I bought our first bp for the kid, got "stuck" taking care of her, but thought she was cool so no big deal.
discovered, through the internet(of course) that they came in a vast array of patterns and colors, so I got an albino boy and a het female.
a few years later two were big enough to breed and the rest is history, lol.
but seriously, this will only be my second season breeding.
have 13 right now, 4 of the girls are breeding size/age, wish me luck.
I have seen some major set ups though and WOW!
Still just a hobby, for now... am I addicted, YES!
