    ~ Satomi325's 2012-2013 Breeding Thread ~

    Hi everyone.

This is a thread that will document my entire ball python breeding process and experiences for 2012-2013.
Instead of making multiple little threads throughout the year, I will condense everything into one large thread that will be updated periodically.

    Thanks for looking!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

This will be my first ball python breeding season.

I presently have two females up to breeding size:
    1) Mojave (virgin)
    2) Het Albino (proven breeder, but not proven for het albino yet)

Currently breeding: Female Mojave x Male Lesser & Male Pinstripe
    Starting date: 11/9/2011
Season Goal: Hatching Blue Eyed Leucistics.

Future breeding planned for next Spring: Het Albino x Albino or other future multi-gene male

Enclosure temps: 90 hot spot, 75-80 ambient
Cool down: I don’t do designated cool downs. The ambient temperature may change depending on the seasonal room temp. But in general, I find that cool downs are an unnecessary extra step that could potentially result in RIs.
    Enclosure substrate: Newspaper
Side note: I do not provided water bowls or hides in breeding tubs.
    Humidity: ~ 60%
Lighting: Increased darkness that correlates with natural daylight in Winter here in Northern CA.
Breeding intervals: I pair snakes for 4 days. Then I separate them back into their own tubs for 4-7 days in order to recuperate and feed, then I pair them again for another 4 days, and so on and so forth. Parings will continue until the female ovulates.
Feeding Status: All adults are fed live small rats. The big girls are fed multiple smalls. Nobody has gone off feed yet. I will continue to feed my breeding snakes as long as they want to eat.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm confused, did you mean 2012-2013 season? Or did you start pairing last year, and have babies etc and are putting it all in a thread now?

Good luck / hope you got the BEL!

Those last two pics were adorable. Lol. Congrats on the pairing and good luck getting your BELs. Can't wait to see their babies in a few months.

    Monday 11/26/12 *Post # 2*

    Post #2:

I hope everybody had a happy Thanksgiving!
I just got back to my apartment from a 5 day vacation visiting my parents, family, and boyfriend.
Since my original post, I have named myself(Pacific Coast Serpentry), designed a signature banner for my bp.net account, and made a Facebook page for my Ball Python Breeding endeavors. You can find my page here: http://www.facebook.com/PacificCoastSerpentry

In addition to all that, all of my females are still eating machines. I believe the two males I am breeding this year have officially gone off feed. They have refused the past 2 meals and one of them is my strongest feeder. So that is really uncharacteristic of him.

I finally dug out the extra flexwatt I had to use on my DIY incubator project. The fans to circulate the air will arrive in the mail tomorrow.

I also had the misprinted dates to the thread fixed. Thank you Tiffany for catching that!

Here are some photographs of the latest pairing:

    Mojave female x Pinstripe Male
    (Here's to a double sired clutch! )
