    Thermometer hydrometer for tubs

So I finally got my Rack from Reptile Basic. Ran it for a few hours and I have the hot side at 90f and cool side 82f with 50% humidity. Seem like everything is going great. I won't be filling all 4 racks anytime soon but I have a question about monitoring temperature and hydrometer inside each tubs.

What brand do yall use for the tubs in your rack? I have the trusted accurite right now but I dont like how i have to leave the base unit inside the tub because the accurite base unit is quite big and I'm worry that once I have the snake in it its gonna soil on the paper towel and make the accurite all gross.

Any ideas how i can monitor hot cool end + humidity in each individual tub while making it look clean? How do you attach the probe in the tub without using tape?

I check the accurite hyprometer probe diy but I'm not too interested in soldering thing I rather buy a new unit

I personally don't like the Acurite. It's not an accurate unit. I've had 4 and none of them read the same temp.

I use a temp gun, which has been tested with construction grade temp guns.

I don't really use a hygrometer anymore either. Once you figure out your system, it's not really needed. If your snakes shed fine or as long as there's no standing moisture on the walls or floor of the tub, you're fine.

hygrometers the best hands down are analogue type that have a metal face card and calibration screw. They are accurate and robust and can be confirmed and re calibrated as needed. It takes a ton of junk inside to foul the movement.

There are very few good digital thermometers on the market that are reasonably priced. The best way to get ok accuracy is to use an average system. If you buy a number of inexpensive units and set them all up in a stable temp location and only use the units reading the same or close to the same. I tend to recommend the cheapest I can find with this in mind the more you buy the better the chances of getting accurate ones.

I don't like accurite units either over priced for the level of accuracy they bring I also don't like batteries inside enclosures battery issues are unpleasant.

Thanks guys! I'm heading to Hk for a few days I will see if I have chance to put up a bunch of those cheap thermometer and a temp gun. I checkout the amazon link for analog hydrometer. All of them had review ranging for amazing to utter crap. Is there one you recommend? I still want a unit that tells both temp and humidity cause I'm very anal about the rack looking as clean and uncluttered as possible. Also what is the best way to attach the probe to the tub?

Yes there are a few but that exact one is the brand I like western instruments makes many scientific instruments. The only ones to not buy are the ones with hair movements they are very fragile.

the only issue I have with them is the magnet attachment the steel disk will fall off sooner or later and the magnet is poor I re glue the disk and use a better magnet.

how about these analog thermo/hydro meters? I'm thinking of dropping two each in each tub on hot and cold side. Don't have to worry about it getting wet. Is it accurate enough though?
