    Is my pastel ovulating

This is my first season breeding and I wanted to get your opinion if you could tell anything from a pocture. My son and I palpated her and could feel lumps moving in her.

No she is not. What did the lumps feel like? Golf balls? Is she still eating? It is possible she is building. Didn't you just start pairing?

Normally during ovulation they stretch all out and look like they ate a football. You wont mistake it when you see it.

She would be stretched out a bit if she was ovulating, they don't stay balled up. She looks like she could be building since she looks lumpy.

Here is one of my girls ovulating

I appreciate the info. I think building was what I was thinking. I new that the lumpyness was part of the process but got it confused with ovulating. But now is the time to be breeding with her building right. And I should put them together a few days on and then a few off. When she goes off food and seeks cool spots in the enclosure she is gravid.

Right keep pairing them up. You want at least one good lock per month (at least that is how I do it). Once she ovulates she is gravid and yes typically they go off food but that is not always a guarantee. Keep good records of her sheds and get ready to learn patience the hard way. She may not lay until May if she even does lay in 2013. Good Luck

Nope, they seek the hot side when they are gravid.
If she just started breeding those lumps you see are nothing, just how she's laying.
There's a lot to learn, you won't learn it over night, just keep pairing and watching and learning.

Yes I have a lot to learn. Looks like the biggest thing I have to learn is patience.
