    New Terrarium

I know that glass terrariums are not the number one option for husbandry, but we have been doing fine with the glass tank we have. We just have to put in some extra work. Anyway, Parker is nearing a year and a half, and he's starting to get big. He is growing quickly, and is outgrowing yet another hide. It is only a matter of time before he outgrows the 20L tank we have him in. I was looking into getting one that opens in the front. The Exo Terra terrariums LOOK like what I am looking for, however I don't really know much about them. Are they ok to use for ball pythons? I don't want to spend more than $300 if I don't have to. Any suggestions if these terrariums aren't any good? We are limited in space as I live in an apartment. We don't want to exceed 18 inches in height. It sits on top of a dresser in my step son's room under his loft bed. We don't have a place in another room to put it on a stand right now, nor any place to put in a rack setup. So I really just need to figure something out that can be a permanent habitat that I can use in the smaller amount of space I have right now. Maybe in the future I will have a bigger place with more room to work with, but as for now I want to get something that I will be happy with here, but its nice enough that I won't need to replace it down the line.

I've used them before and I like them. Just make sure to get the one that's wider than it is tall. However, when your boy is full grown, he might need something like a 40 gal breeder Zilla Critter Cage to keep in. I know it doesn't open from the front, but I don't think exo terra makes the front opening ones in that size.

they make a exo terra that is 36 x 18 x18 which is a 40 gallon breeder. I have one for my female beardie. works great for her since she doesn't need high humidity.for under 300 you can get a pvc cage, which will hold heat/humidity better and weight much less. just look around, i got mine at petsmart when they went on sale.

Good to know! I want to get one of those styles when I get ready to purchase my beardie. I've been wanting one for years!

I would suggest something different. The open screen top makes humidity difficult. I would suggest something like a vision (http://visionproducts.us/vp12wp/) or animal plastics (http://www.apcages.com) there are a ton of others these are just two. they will hold temps and humidity better than the exos.

I agree with kitedemon, if you want to invest in something that is more long term then you might as well make it easy on yourself. Get a cage that will hold temps and humidity well. I can't speak on any other cages other than animal plastics as I haven't personally owned them, but I'm VERY pleased with my AP.

Give Ali at animal plastics a call, she is super nice/knowledgeable. Their cages are PVC, front opening, and under 18 inches. Mine holds humidity and temps very well, with minimal effort. The T-3 is on sale for $175 right now and (from what I read and was told) should be fitting for the duration of any male ball. Also, they will customize a cage to your hearts content. Also the PVC is deceptively light and easy to clean!

    I agree.

You're willing to spend almost $300, and I know ap has t8s for $150.

When I switched to PVC enclosures I couldn't believe why I hadn't done it sooner.
