More often than not, you probably won't catch him in the act. And if you do, it's most likely because he thought you weren't there. I would only start to worry if it seems he's getting dehydrated. Wrinkly, loose-looking skin is a sign of that, although he might look like that if he's shedding/getting ready to shed, so make sure that's not the case before you go panicking and calling vets or anything.

Some BPs are secretive about it and some aren't. My boyfriend's normal male drinks constantly! I almost never see the others drink though. Different from snake to snake

They get most of the water they need from their food (like humans more than half of a rodents body weight is water) So they don't need to drink very often, and as has been stated previously they can be secretive.

Re: my ball python wont drink

The first time I saw any of my BPs drink was today! I was feeding them and I turned around to see my spider girl with her head in her dish! I have 8 snakes and I've only witnessed three of them drinking (two only on one occasion each and the final one drinks IMMEDIATELY after she eats so it's easy to catch her). I wouldn't worry about it! So long as his skin doesn't seem overly wrinkly, he's fine.

    Not sure if he’s drinking??

I got my BP a week ago, he is about 6months to a year old. I fed him live for the first time last night he ate that within the first 2 minutes of me dropping the hopper in.

im just not not sure if he’s drinking. I know he would never finish all the water I give him in his bowl but I haven’t once seen him drink. He doesn’t have any signs of dehydration. I’m going to let his food digest then take him out to observe his skin.

Should I be panicked? Or does something sound wrong?
I also use spring water for him with out adding repti safe.
is this ok? Should I condition the water?

Im a first time snake owner and everything has been stressing me out!

No need to worry. You will very rarely, if ever, see ypur BP drink. No need to condition the water.

Also....I have said it on other threads, but, I'll try again...
