Where to find info on setup of a herpstat1?

I have only had my ball pythons for one day but I'm concerned about my herpstat1. First of all, how am i supposed to put in the temp gauge? the cord is so thick it won't fit very well. I just ended up putting it in an unused tub for the first night. How do i get it to fit and should it be in a tub with a snake or one of my empty tubs(my rack doesn't use all its shelves)?

If necessary I can shoot a video of my setup and post here. Any videos that are easy to understand for a first timer that show a use of a herpstat1 would be great too!

I don't have a herpstat but I put my probe on the heat tape.
Set the herpstat at the temp which makes the temp inside the tub right.

It might have to be higher like:

Like set the herpstat on 90* and the hotspot in the tub might be 87*

When it comes to a rack system most people put the temp probe on the heat source, attached usually with hot glue or something else. Once attached to the heat source you adjust your temp according to what your tub temps are.

For example I have my temp probe in the middle of my rack. The temps is set at 94 and my tubs reach a warm side temp of 90-91.

How do you tell the temp inside the tub? Do you use a temp gun or some kind of gauge?

I put the prob right in the flex watt or the UTH, measure the temps by a tempgun, and in a spare tub not being used I keep a acurite So I can measure the hot and cold sides.
