You can get a hatchlings for around 200...and it goes way up from there. Up to 25 grand.
Try signal Herp, fine gtps. Those are two I know of off off the top of my head but there are more.

Buy a CB from a breeder not from a forwarder. Check out moreliavidirs.yuku for some breeders, they are a good group to go too for anything GTP related. I got mine from a breeder on there.

It depends on the snake. My yearling is Mr. Hissy pants and strikes at everything.
I just got an adult male this paste weekend and I handled him at the Tinley show. He seemed pretty fine with handling. Though when I go into his enclosure now he hisses at me. Understandable. I'm going to give him a couple weeks alone before I start handling him. I'll probably get him out with a hook.

I got mine from a guy here in Ohio. He bred them and I paid $215 for mine. At first he was nasty and struck at everything. I used a glove for the first few times I had him out. Twice a week for about 5-10 minutes. He calmed down quick. The biggest tip I can give you is to be VERY gentle and don't startle them. Most of the guys I spoke to said don't handle them till they're about a year old. Their spines are very fragile and actually have soft spots in them. And NEVER pull them off of something. But like others have said, do your research and slowly handle them and they are really rewarding snakes.

Great advice so far!
GTPs can have a wide variety of temperaments. Your best bet in that department is to purchase an older animal from a reputable breeder who can attest to the snake's personality. Handle it a few times under several different circumstances if possible. I would also suggest staying away from Biaks - they tend to be the most tempermental (although I've known a few Biaks to be puppies). Arus and Marukes are often more docile.
Signal Herps, Southern Chondros, Morelia Creations, and John Leckie all have great animals. I purchased my current GTP from the Arboreal Enthusiast - Rocky Gravley. He was fantastic to work with!! Very professional and communicative. I would buy from him again in a heartbeat and he'll be the first person I go to if I get another GTP. Hunter, my male mixed locale, is wonderfully tame and calm and a pure joy to handle. He'll hang out with me while working on the computer for hours at a time and he has never offered to bite (although I do NOT put my hands in his enclosure at night. They go into hunting mode at night and that's just something you do not do with GTPs).
Hope this is helpful to you!
