    40" x 28" x 28" Carpet Python Enclosure Build *DUW*

This summer I acquired a 6 foot Coastal Carpet Python. He came with a 30 gallon tall, which was obviously too small. Instead of spending a bunch of money on a pre-made cage, my father and I decided to see what we could come up with. Heres a somewhat of a step by step process.

The Basic Frame (I took a picture of it on its side for some reason)

I then started to start adding the paneling.

Here it is finished with the paneling.

Then the silicone and paint was added.

Here it is with the perches and moulding installed.

I then added the polycrylic, and light.

I stained and sealed the outside of the enclosure.

    Finally, the finished enclosure.

And what would this thread be without pictures of the Carpet Python itself!

Also here is what the RHP looks like inside the enclosure.

The cage itself is made with 2x4's which cost me about $15. The walls and ceiling was made with panel wood I happened to have laying around and the floor was made with laminate flooring, which all cost me $0 lol. White non-toxic paint was also free. The polycrylic used to seal the wood and the aquarium silicone came out to a total of $20. The wood perches and acrylic doors were free as well. Lock was $5. The vent came out to $5. The light was $8. The Ranco Thermostat and RBI Radiant Heat Panel came out to about $150, pre wired and shipped.

    Grand Total = $203! Not bad for a 40" x 28" x 28" enclosure with the whole nine yards.

    Thanks for reading!

What are the perches? Closet rods, hand rail? I like how they look.

    Looks nice, good job!

KMG - They are cut from a large closet rod. I had one laying around so I just cut to size then attached them and of course applied polycrylic to them. Also thank you!

Evenstar - Its simpler than you would think, especially for this design. I'm building another and this time I will be doing a step by step tutorial.

Hypnotixdmp, Fishdip - Well thank you. If you need any help with design or if you have a few questions dont hesitate to ask.

Mike41793, John 1982 - Thank you so much!

Looks good. Ypu probably were going with a cleaner look on purpose but i wouldve added some fake leafy vines around the rods or on the walls to give it more of a natural look. It looks great like that though. Well done and kudos to you!
