heat tape and probe kit questions

I am buying flexwatt for the first time and was just wondering if the flexwatt crimping tool is mandatory for assembly or if I can get away without it?

Also, I'm going to order a probing kit. Do I need the 5 probes or is the 3 probes good enough?

i just used a vice or pair of pliers and muh strong, manly hands haha.

I cant answer your second Q. I dont Know how to probe or pop yet lol.

I suggest you wire the flexwatt with an extension cord from the dollar store
