Thinking this may be scale rot

A couple of days ago the heater under my Lesser male's tank spiked (was at about 105 degrees when I checked it!) and so I initially thought the redness in his belly scales were just some minor burns but now after finding that he has rubbed off most of the scales on his underside (you can kind of see how raw they look in the pictures) I'm starting to think that this is scale rot. Really, it looks pretty awful and I can tell that he is very uncomfortable as I see him maintaining these very rigid positions to keep the worst parts off the floor of his tank.

I scrubbed his tank clean and tried to make sure its as sterile as possible in case there is any of that nasty bacteria still around and I was considering flushing out the affected areas with water as well but from what I've read moisture will just exacerbate things if this is indeed scale rot. Vet appointment has been made for Saturday so I hope that this can be treated as easily as possible.
I just feel so awful not catching this sooner!

Whatīs your substrate? Iīll use paper. I had a pastel with a bad scale rot, and started similar to that, but it was not from a burn. Maybe itīs just the burned scales tearing apart, even so it might get inffected. My pastel needed 15 shots of enrofloxacin, over a month of treatment.

Looks more like a burn to me. Get some silver sulfadine (sp?). Also, make sure you pick up a thermostat!

I would say burn as well especially considering it happened from a UTH temp spike, looks quite a bit like what my albino looked like when she got burned.

jbean7916 is spot on silver sulfadiazine cream until the vet appointment. (if you have some or can get it...) it is formulated for human burns and works super well on just about anything you would use polysporin on.

It is a burn... The cream will be the best way to treat. Papertowel and keeping the tank hospital clean will be essential too. Instead of using the tank during this you may want to try hospital tubs. Two identical tubs, set up the same, use one day one next day switch and disinfect. Keep switching till treatments are over.

I know people are mentioning to get a thermostat, which you should if you don't already have one. I'm just curious, did this happen with a UTH not plugged into a thermostat or did you have a thermostat go bad on you?
