Need Help. Time Sensative.

Our female citrus layed her second clutch ever yesterday, she gave us 14 eggs. However, the issue lies in I can still feel 2 eggs in her belly. I don't want her to become egg bound. What are some suggestions that I can do to help her lay these last 2 eggs? Thanks to all that respond.

a nice soak in luke warm water may help. nothing deep so she feels in danger but an inch or two in a sink should work.

Make sure her egg laying box is set up well, after you soak her, put her back in her cage with the box freshly set up, and she may go and finish. It might not be an "egg bound" situation, as it might just be an insecure one.

Ok, Thanks for the advice. The two eggs where up high near her ribs this morning, I just checked on her and they have moved down to her pelvis. I'm gonna leave her be tonight and see what happens. If no results by tomorrow after work I'll go ahead and soak her. Do you guys agree or does this sound like a bad idea?

Well, got home from work today and she still has not layed her last two eggs. We gave her a good soaking for 30 minutes, dried her off and put her back in her enclosure with her fresh lay box. I also put a call in to a friend of mine who is an emergency vet. He did all his postgraduate work in herpatology. I'm currently waiting for his return phone call.

Doc called me back and I took his advice which was, Flush out her cloaca with sterile saline and then with a sterile sirynge apply 1 cc of sterile KY jelly inside her cloaca for lubrication. I will see how she's doing when I get home from work today. BBL

Interested to see what happens. I'm not meaning to be insulting but are you positive that they are in fact eggs that you are feeling?

My vet friend is on his way to my house with some meds for her and he will be checking her out as well. She still hasn't layed the last two eggs. I'm pretty sure that they are eggs. I'll put up another post after he's done with her and let you all know what he says.

OK, the vet just left. He confirmed that they are eggs and gave her an injection of liquid calcium and an injection of another medicine, I don't remember the name, that induces contractions. He also gave me more liquid calcium and instructed me to give her a dose twice a day for three days. Now we wait and see if the meds work. I'll update again tomorrow night to let you all know how she's doing.
