    Another Adoption, plus a question.

Hey again. So I got a text and phone call, literally an hour ago. This guy is moving out with his g/f, and she does not like snakes. So, he asked around, and I was suggested. This will be my 4th adoption in about 2 months.

I am told, this is a 10 year old female, and maybe wasn't handled too much. I guess she might have been a little more on the aggressive side. The guy is giving me her in her apparently 75 gallon tank (which might end up being my filter for a future salt water tank).

They are coming here in 20-25 minutes. I have no pics yet, and just amazed now, that I will be housing 12 ball pythons. I haven't even bred yet (which I am currently working on - albinos).

My 3 other adopted snakes are doing super well. However, now I need a third rack. Which I am ok with.

Once she settles in, and I confirm her to be a female, I will introduce my Enchi, and hopefully get some of those as well. I'm considering she hasn't bred before, and just this guys pet for the last 10 years.

    Question for anyone that is reading this;

What would you be feeling, if you had to give away a pet you've had for years!!??

    I would be upset.

Make sure that you quarinetine this new snake properly before you introduce any of your snakes to it (at least 90 days)

Yep, staying in it's own tank. Once those 3 months are over, I will see if my Enchi will want to breed (and her) after. This will give me time to get a new rack anyways.

My first two adopted ones, I had no other place, but to have them in the racks. Everything is great.

I'd pick the snake over the girl so I wouldn't have that problem plus my wife is just as addicted to reptiles as I am

Well, I got her. She is very small. Especially 10 years old. I haven't weighed her yet, but I'm going to guess 800-900 gram range.

She had brown liquid fluids in her vent, and the tank is MASSIVE. Which I will trade off to a pet traders store. The UTH doesn't even work, and it's hooked up to my Zilla. So, I have to work fast. My basement is really warm, so thankfully the ambient air is 80.

I have two pics atm, but no time to post. Poor thing.

Sorry for those that have had to ditch their animals..or get caught in a bind...

I can understand having to give up animals (for example financial hardship, health reasons) you do what is best for you and your animal however giving up an animal because you move in with a significant other....not the best way to start, what will be the next demand?

Relationship are about compromises and when you have a pet regardless of the pet for 10 years the other person should understand that the animal will be moving in also, when you love someone you support them doesn't mean you have to share the same interest but you support and encourage your significant other to pursue what he/she loves.

Giving up a pet regardless of the reason is a heart breaking thing and in this case what if in 6 months from now he breaks up with her?

    Good luck with her.

I guess my guy is lucky. I entered a relationship with a man addicted to snakes...while I dealt with a phobia of snakes. He actually never pushed me...I came to him when I was ready to work on it. He doesn't live with me, and is unable to have his snakes in his home cause it's an apartment that doesn't allow them. His were being fostered.
I am now fostering one from our herp society, he gave me the wee little ball, and we are considering me taking in his favorite, the pastel male. My best friend will be looking at taking the corn soon.

My point is is that relationships are about growing together. From my perspective, this woman is new and forcing him out of a 10 year friendship and companionship. I hope she sleeps well at night.

I know it is recommended to wait a week before attempting to feed. However, I tried with a live mouse. Well, it's gone. So, happy she ate.

It's amazing how relationships change people. It's suppose to merge and blend. If my wife hated snakes....I'd either work with her, or...we would not have been married. The only thing I asked her to change, as her pace...was to quit smoking. That's all I asked.

I picked up a locking sterlite bin, which I'll set up tomorrow, and get a new heat pad, as the one given to me by him, doesn't even work. :-(

I can tell she is a bit stressed just by how active she is.

Here is the only pic I was able to get at the time. She has some rubbing on the back end of her tail....I've named her Crystal.
