Arent the regular rats we feed called norway rats? I wouldnt think something from norway would be as heat tolerant as something from africa.

Yea we actually have similar climate to places like Africa and Australia, like we have whole feral colonies of parakeets, love birds, and cockatiels that just live wild in certain places around here.
Norway rats got that name incorrectly... They're thought to have originated in China/Persia but that's still a colder climate.
