    Opinions on my rubs/hides

Hi guys, im a noob so bear with me! Ive built my rack and set everything up. the tubs are Ikea Komplements (100cm x 58) Just wondering on what you guys think of the hides? are they too big? My girls are all over 1.5kg so dont think i could get away with much smaller, just they seem to take up an awful lot of floor space!!

They do look large, but the snake can grow into them. As long as the snake eats well, I'd leave them in there. Also, make sure that the edges around the openings are smooth. You can use a soldering iron to take off any rough edges.

Often times imho a hide is not needed in a rack. Especially a black rack. I have only had 2 snakes that needed a hide in there tubs. The rest of mine do not seem to need them. May consider ditching the idea. It does that up an awful lot of room

It was just a dry run mate, thats y its a bit spartan in there. Im gonna use unprinted paper and ive got more deco.

I Could possibly trim hides down so they were smaller, though theyd be flimsy. They only cost £1 each ne way so i could go and buy another set for when they grow. Do you think the snakes would benefit from the extra floor space??

I think it will benefit. I try to maximize floor space so they can stretch out and move a bit. Even as it were my BP just hangs out in her hide all day any way lol.

Back to the poundshop tomorrow then !! Although the hides are quite short in height and one of them was chillin on top earlier so they can still stretch out. Perhaps ill cut one down a bit and see how it is with 1 full size and 1 smaller. Cheers guys

Thanks ! Im undecided, they can climb on top like i said, but i would like to give them some more floorspace :S

Wot im gonna do is cut 1 in half diagonally, so it can be placed in the corner with the open side exposed, and cover the front with some fake plants or summin. i could then do the same with the other half in the opposite corner of the rub. is that clear? I think that would be even cooler, and using the floorspace a lot more efficently.

I gotta let the girls settle in first though, they've not had their first feed with me yet and as they're my first royals im pretty anxious 2 say the least so i wont be messing with anything until then anyway!! They arrived with me 14 hours ago so may try feeding tomorow night (24 hours from now - as im in UK) even though i know i should probably wait a little longer!!!

The largest girl has not budged an inch since ive had her which is concerning me although i know thats perfectly normal. Quite the worrier arent i lol!!

It sounds like a cool idea, but I guarantee you the snake is going to move that hide around. All mine move their hides and half of them don't even use them anymore. They either hide under the paper towel or at the back of the tub.
