Other species or stick with what I know?

From a business point of view, should I branch out to other species of snake or should I stay with just Corn Snakes? Would it help to have a lot of different variety at my table? Would someone think that I am more of a trustworthy breeder if I had multiple species? Corn snakes do have many different morphs, so in just one species I would have a lot of variety. But there are those people that don't like colubrids. What would you do?

In my opinion breed what you enjoy to. I know the corn snake market is in a surplus at the moment, but there really is no point in breeding species of snakes you do not like. Plus, breeding for money never ends well anyhow. If you are worried about the surplus but don't want to breed other species, there are several options.

    1) Don't overproduce - produce the number you think will sell
    2) Specialize - Breed morphs that don't have a large number in the market but are still desired
    3) Breed higher end morphs

You get the picture. Of course if you like other species of snakes you can always breed them. Breeding should be about the love you have for that certain species of snake, not about making a profit (if you are in it to make a lot of money, you are in the wrong type of business).

This is just my opinion though.

Breed what you like. If you like other species then go for it. If not, don't waste your time.
