Re: How many of you are just attached to your pet snakes?

I love my snakes tons. No one else in my family has ever been into snakes so I didn't grow up around them or anything. About 2 years ago, I saw a big King snake in a pet store. I went home and looked up snakes as pets and found the Ball Python. After researching for a few months, I got my normal. I fell in love totally. My mom doesn't understand but my dad has also fallen in love. We plan on getting him a Brazilian Rainbow Boa. We've also talked about a future business in breeding snakes. Who knows what the future holds for me and the snakes that I love

Hmmmm......I can't say that I love my snakes. I do care for them, make sure they have everything they need. But do I love them? No. But I will definitely have snakes for years to come.

I really enjoy all of my snakes but there are 5 in particular that I couldn't imagine being without. They are literally the only things that I have that survived my house fire besides my wife and kids. We got out ok and the fire department rescued 5 of 11 bp's and everything else was lost.

My condolences in regards to your house fire and the 6 snakes you lost. I am glad you and your family got out safely.
That is a very touching story. The fact that they would even attempt to rescue your ball pythons is amazing. Such a beautiful thing.

I definitely like my BP a lot, but I can't say I love him. Mostly because after I realized that he won't eat, I tried not to get too attached in case he ends up starving himself to death It hasn't been too long, though, so I keep hoping that he'll eat.
I love all of my pets (with the exception of fish that I've owned, which, really, who can blame me?) simply because I don't believe in keeping "display pets" or pets that you don't interact with. No offense to people that have those kinds of pets, it's just not something I do. I have no problem with other people doing it.
And people always joke about snakes eating peoples pet cat and dogs, and how my snake's gonna kill me (My snake is a baby BP that's not even 2 feet), which is incredibly upsetting, because even though they don't say that they hate snakes, they definitely don't respect them or my choice to have them, and I end up getting upset.

Those fire fighters must have been really good people! Most people would say "Who cares, they're just snakes?". So glad you and your family and the five BP's got out okay! So sorry about the others

I am pretty attached to all of my snakes. My normal guy is the "pet", the rest we actually purchased with breeding in mind, but we still get them out and hold them and let them watch tv with us every day.

I love all the snakes I've had in my life the same way I love all the cars I've owned. I know they don't love me back (lol) but you know what... oh well.
