    2013 "To Do List"

I know that it's a little early for a 2013 list but I don't get home from Afghanistan until December, so I can't really plan much for this year. Here are my goals for 2013:

    1) Move my family out to CO and give the relationship with the wife one more shot.
    2) Summit 18,500' Pico de Orizaba in Mexico.
    3) Summit two new 14ers in CO before 21 Feb, which will give me three 14ers summited in calendar winter.
    4) Buy an olive python.
    5) Summit 10 more new 14ers in CO during spring, summer and fall, bringing my total around half of the 14,000' peaks in CO.
    6) Summit 14,410' Mt. Rainier in WA.
    7) Camp in the Long Draw area of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River.
    8) Pass the promotion board in the summer and pin on the rank of Captain in November.
    9) Have my Special Forces Selection packet picked up and either go to or be scheduled for a selection class date.
    10) Breed ball pythons for the first time and hopefully get some eggs in 2014.
    11) Brew a batch of beer every two months (for a total of 6 batches, or 30 gallons of beer).
    12) Have an awesome garden.
    13) Buy some chickens and a sheep (chickens for eggs, a sheep to raise over the summer and slaughter in the winter for winter stew meat and lamb roasts).

That is it for now. Things may be added as time progresses but nothing will be removed from the list!

So what are all of your goals for next year?

Those are some impressive goals! I'd love to try climbing a mountain sometime, the highest I've ever gone is a tiny little 1,000 foot hill near where I used to live.
    I hope to:
Complete at least 9 college courses with an average of 90 or above.
Get a job, preferably at our local safari park (they have a very well maintained collection of herps)
Visit somewhere with a more substantial winter than Alabama's.
Help my mother move into town, and start scouting for a place of my own.
Grow three new species of carnivorous plants.

My brother was 18X and then deserted after basic. Piece of crap! Good luck getting there yourself.

Of course you don't, Mike. LOL

Good luck with the three new plants, and more importantly college! Also, you reminded me of a goal that I'd like to reach (not sure how I forgot). I am two classes away from my Master's Certificate in Sustainable Military Land Mangement, so I'd like to finish that. Have a 4.0 so far going for the Master's so I'd like to keep that up there as well!

I know I promised on my other thread a long term set of goals by yesterday but quickly realized its going to take more than a couple days to figure out that far into the future. So, I decided that I share some of my basic goals from now until the end of 2013.
From now til Dec. 31 2012:
Hike 10 miles in one day
Buy my first set of corn snakes
    Make my own chili powder
Do some volunteer work for Christmas
    Cut down on eating out
    Practice smart spending
    Build a snake rack
    Start breeding red worms
    Get another tattoo
Take my family to Chimney Rock
Go on my first deer hunt
    Now for 2013:
    Go skiing
Hike 20 miles in one day
Hike 250 miles over the course of the entire year
    Buy a mountain bike
Play 5 disc golf courses I've never played before (maybe make this 10)
    Plant a garden
    Get milk goats
Get 3 more egg layer chickens
Cut grocery shopping to once a month
Only eat out once a week
Take a college course towards something I enjoy (music or biology or vet tech)

I'm sure once I get the time to sit down and really think where I truly want to go in life this list will grow. Now I just have to make all or most of my goals achievable so I stay motivated to stick with them.

Sounds awesome man! I should be going on my first elk hunt in 2013 in Colorado which will be incredible! I've been in the mountains with elk around me but I've never tagged one myself. How do you plan to go about getting a deer for yourself? Also, I bought and have read about half of Storey's Guide to Dairy Goats since I got out here and after reading it I know that I am not ready for that kind of commitment yet. Everything has to be super escape proof and you have to milk these things every 12 hours religiously (supposedly) or it will affect their milk production and they cna have issues with their udders (forget the technical term but it's ad news for the goat). How many chickens do you have at the moment?

If I deploy as currently scheduled, I will return in Jul 2013.

    I would like to:

    Buy a nylon string guitar
Learn "Classical Gas" in its entirety
    Start breeding BPs
Take my National Certification exams for NP and CNS
Get the Jeep lifted 3" and 35" tires under it.

I want to add Rainier to the list, but that may have to wait till 2014. Just finished Whitney for the 2nd time, but need the ice/snow training. We may do Shasta when I return.

I'm suppose to go hunting with some family. My brother has a .243 that I've been practicing with. So I'll either use that gun or buy a similar model. Elk hunting sounds like a blast. With the goats I want mini milk goats. They don't produce as much milk and from what I understand aren't as needy when it comes to milking. I think they are a 24 hr schedule instead of 12 hr like their full size counterparts (not 100% certain on this though). I have 3 egg layers right now. I had 4 but a raccoon got ahold of one. Jinx667 made me think of another thing I'd like to add to my list. I want to record 3 albums by the end of 2013. And the sooner the better.

    Re: 2013 "To Do List"

    For 2013?

    Finish my bachelor's in philosophy.
    Continue with website development testing.
Get the hell off my mother's property even though I have my own place on her property.
    Breed ball pythons.
    Get back into church.
More of a wish than goal - go on another mission trip (last one was to Mozambique, Africa for 3 months).
Visit my dad in Pennsylvania and go to Penguins game.
Finish the album that me and my buddy are working on.
    Run a 5k.
Think of some more goals. LoL.

I hiked from the lodge to the top of Grand Targhee in Idaho a couple years ago in the middle of the night, like 2am. Nobody else was out. I don't know if that really counts as a decent hike or not. You'd have to tell me. Let me tell you thought, that was one of the more stupid ideas that I've had in my life. Apart from nearly getting lost when I thought it would be a good idea to try and cut across trails, hiking through three or four feet of snow is not an easy task, especially if you're not used to wearing snow shoes and the snow isn't packed down.
