Another update on the fire clutch

Hey everyone!

I've been sick lately, so I haven't been here as much as usual. But here is the newest on the fire clutch.

Last week, I went ahead and assist fed the babies who had not eaten. More for me than for them. Tonight, babies 2, 10, 8, and 7 ate on their own. And best of all, little number 6, the first of the eyeless fires to hatch, ate her mouse all on her own!!

So, patience and persistence. Unfortunately, it appears that the little normal who has a deformed lower jaw also is missing it's tongue. I have never seen it flicking, and when I assist few, I did a pretty good exam of the deformity, and it appears there is no tongue. The baby swallowed it's mouse just fine, but with no tongue and a malformed lower jaw, I do not know if it will ever be able to strike and feed on it's own. I am monitoring the weight carefully, and if it does not eat on it's own and begins to loose weight, I must make the hard choice.

Thank you for the update!! Glad one of the eyeless ones ate for you!! They are so beautiful and special!! Let me know if one of them needs a home... Sorry about the guy with the jaw. I have my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks for the update! I am sorry about the deformed jaw baby = ( that has to be tough. I am glad some of the other babies are starting to eat for you though = ). Keep us posted.
