Can someone give me some info about Hognoses?

Check your state laws before purchase. A western hognose snake is a threatened native species in IL, so you would need to get a permit for it. (Even if you bought it from an out of state breeder).

Thanks for the precaution but I don't live in IL. Hopefully obtaining a Hoggy shouldn't be too hard, but is there anything else concerning law issues that I'll need to worry about? Honestly I can't find a reason why owning a Hoggy would bring government issues.

You tell them! No species of Hognose live in Ohio, so why would there be anything to worry about? I was just wondering, did any of you have to go through any government paperwork to get a commonly-kept snake from a breeder/store that's not local to your state? I'm pretty sure all you have to do is buy the snake.

Thanks for the precaution, but there are no native population of Hoggers in the Buckeye state. Catawhat here is also from OH and it seems that she bought her hogger with ease. Oh yeah, BTW, I finally got the little Hogger! I'll post pics ASAP.
