Question for the Mods

I have been parooseing other forums. Don't worry I always come back lol. There have been some threads on other forums that I wondered what the community here could discuss but I wasn't sure if I was allowed to link to those threads. So question being, can I link to other forums in a thread here or is that against the will of the court? Thanks in advance.

Yea you can link as long as its not innaporpriate stuff. Ive done it before to like kingsnake and reptileforumsUK and others

Links to other sites are not forbidden here, so long as they are not done with the purpose of recruiting people to that site. You also can't link to other sites with the intent to mock, deride, or start a flame war with something on that site that you disagree with. Typically, the links we allow should be things that you can't find here at BP.net, but are still beneficial to the community as a whole.

What you're asking about sounds like it walks a fine line between those scenarios. I really wouldn't want to see links to ordinary conversations on another site with nothing but a "let's discuss this" tag on it. We don't need to send our members off to other sites to read their conversations just so they can participate here. That doesn't make any sense. Not to mention the distinct possibility of fights starting between sites with this kind of invitation.

If there is a topic on another site that you'd like to see discussed here...rather than linking to that site, just bring the topic up yourself, and allow the discussion to develop on its own here at BP.net, rather than trying to ride on the coattails of a conversation at another site.

Thanks JLC. The specific thread I was reading, someone hatched an odd baby from a spider x normal breeding and I was wondering what people on here thought of it. I didn't see it posted here, and I wasn't sure if I should link. Thanks for the answer. Very in depth. Now it's crystal clear!
