The bedding in the mouth was probably a symptom, not the cause. There was probably something really wrong, more than just non-feeding, and there was probably a seizure or something.
In any case, I'm sorry. It's a bad way to lose a pet after only three weeks of having it.

I have plucked substrate from my guys mouths on a few occasions... Just seems kind of strange
