    Winston Card

He is Animal Planet's "Herpetologist" on the extremely biased show "Fatal Attractions"
This is kind of an old topic, but I've been reading up about him, and had mixed feeling until I read this.

Has anyone heard anything else about him, on both good and bad sides?

I can't really judge him because I don't know if this story is 100% true, but it's pretty convincing that this guy is a nut.

He seems as genuine and authentic as the "Mermaids" Animal Planet made a show about...
    Lucifer Sam, Siam cat...
    Always sitting by your side,
    Always by your side...
    That cat's something I can't explain...

If it's the same guy, he has been around for a while. I have some old Vivarium and Reptiles magazines with some of his pubs:

Notes on the Natural History and Husbandry of the Temple Viper, Vivarium Vol. 5 No. 5

Rhinoceros viper (Bitis nasicornis). Reptiles Magazine Vol. 3 No. 8

Gray's monitor lizard (Varanus olivaceus) at the Dallas Zoo Reptiles Magazine, Vol. 3 No. 5

Notes on herping in the tropical wet forest of Costa Rica, Vivarium Vol. 7 No. 3

Incidence of bites from venomous reptiles in North American Zoos - Interesting article in an old herp review - Vol. 27 No.1

A conversation with the late Walter Auffenburg. Reptiles Magazine Vol. 4 No. 6

The rant you posted the link for seems a little over the top, it wasn't that hard for me to find this stuff? Not that Fatal Attractions is my favorite show, but if your going to say things like that...

All the reptile care/vivarium articles in the world couldn't make up for damaging our hobby the way he does on that show, and that stunt with someone's collection is just ridiculous. Saying someone may have had a genuine love for the hobby before they were an anti reptile keeping lunatic doesn't change what they're doing

That guy sounds like a whack job. Ive been to the Cape Fear Serpentarium. Its awesome! They have lots of cool snakes there all cared for very well. When i went like 2-3years ago i remember the huge burm or retic was shedding an i watched it shed its whole skin. It was cool to watch on such a large scale!

Agreed. However, it does not serve our hobby to make statements that can easily be proven false. Both the two individuals in the blog agreed to go on some Animal Planet show when they must have known what was coming, espacially the guy that owns the Serpentarium, he could not possibly be that naive.

It annoys me that these people make the choice to place themselves in comprising positions and than get angry at the end result. Of course, we should be angry with Animal Planet, but some of that anger should also be reserved for the morrons that agree to appear on these shows. To try and say they were taken advantage of is a little hard to swallow, everybody wants their 15 minutes.

Frankly, I wouldn't care about this guy's opinion any more even if he was a professional herpetologist. That was a very informative article, although the credibility drops a small bit because of that spiel at the end. I would like to hear more from a third party. If anyone can hook me up with more information, it would be much appreciated.

    Re: Winston Card

I know this man very well, he is a personal and professional friend of mine. Yes he does possess a real degree in Herpetology. He does not work at a Dollar Tree in Canada but actually owns his own business along with his wife. And that is just the beginning of the lies this man Danny tells. I watched this whole show from start to finish, so I know how it went.

He has traveled many overseas countries studying venomous snakes. He has also narrated many of the Animal Planet reptile series, and is very educated and knowledgeable about what he does. I'm sure you could still look them up and watch them if you still need to know more. He can also be searched and found on Wikipedia under Fatal Attractions- Winston Card

    Thank You,

If anyone is "Nuts" I would say it's probably this man Danny who is writing all these lies trying to cover himself.
