    Impromptu Petting Zoo

I had a fun little time this evening educating a bunch of kids (and adults) on the pleasures of owning reptiles! You see, I live right next door to a church that has a weekly youth group that comes in from various parts of the midwest. I often sit on my porch with my dog and my cat, and today someone happened by and asked to pet my dog. I of course said sure. My dog will be pet from dusk til dawn and still not be satisfied. The cat also enjoys the attention.

We got to talking about out pets and soon my ball pythons were brought up. I figured, "hey why not show her a few". I brought my big normal girl out first. The young girl was totally into the snake, she held it and seemed very confident with it. She asked if a few of her friends could come and see the snake and I said "why not!". Before you know it. I had a few snakes out and a small group of people gathered listening to me talk about ball pythons. I answered all of their questions about their size, why parts of their body work the way they do, why they are so docile, etc etc. There were a few people who were terrified of snakes, but eventually got the courage to at least go near it, some even wanted to hold them!

I really enjoy educating people on these animals. I love when I get the opportunity to do so. My friends all know the drill and my family rarely asks questions about them so this was a lot of fun! I think a lot of parents are going to be a little shocked when their kids come home asking for snakes! I was really happy to turn a few people onto these awesome little guys. Hopefully their parents are opened minded and allow them to enter the world of reptiles.

Just wanted to share my awesome snake experience with you guys! This community taught me everything I know about Ball Pythons. From a simple set to educating the public on these beautiful animals. Thanks BP.net you guys are the best!

That is a great story. Love to hear these types of things. I was very leery of snakes. But my kids love them so I started taking them to reptile shows and stores and interacting with BPs and have grown to love them and now we are getting our own. It is nice to see people open minded enough to educate themselves about snakes and not just hate them.
