Have you ever lost a baby?

Earlier this season I had a baby who started hatching before the rest, I saw fluid coming out of the egg and was like "Oh crap" but by the time I cut it he was already gone.

I don't know if this is a common problem, but I was down in the dumps for a little while.

Breeding comes with the good but also come with the bad, DOA, deformed hatchlings, twisted umbilicus etc been there done that.

Even thought there are heartaches that may happen from time I could not imagine not breeding.

Unfortunately, that is just a part of breeding any animal.

We all get so excited with our morphs and our pairings. We look forward with great anticipation the hatching of eggs that are laid in our care. We swell with pride when our hoped for morph hatches into our care.

But people rarely hear about the down side. Babies that die in development, that are born kinked or deformed, that are born with hard bellies or twisted cords, some that simply fail to thrive. It's a hard thing to deal with, but as breeders we must take the bad with the good.
