Re: breeding suggestions
I did the same thing not too long ago and alot of great advice! I decided to break things down into a 3 year plan. I personally dont know if it will work or not, but its plausible... and like i said I got a ton of advice on this. I decided to go with a total of 6 (4 females and 2 males) to start my breeding projects. Now given that you have only said how much you plan to pay for 2, you really need to know how much you want to spend on your entire "stable" cause buying babies are great (thats what Im doing) but that means Nov 2014 at a minimum when you can start to hook them up with your desired males. I decided on this.
year 1= 4 females, rack and accessories
year 2= 1 powerhouse male (2-3 gene morph) and another male you maybe like the most (certain gene you would like to work with)
year 3= hatch rack and anything else i missed along the way that will help w/ the breeeding
The females will need 2 years to plump up and mature, however the male will only need a year to get ready to stud out, so I would concentrate on nothing but the females you wanna work with this year and hold off on the males till next go around. Learn from my speed bumps and get your housing in place first, it will keep you from buying a ton of sterelite tubs or cages that in the end, I wont use as much as if I would have just got a good quality rack system. Year 2 will be like Christmas for me :-) cause I will need to do is Find me a big boy to make me some pretty babies. I already had two good males before I decided on this process, so I'm only gonna need to find me a good male (i.e Black Pastel lesser, kingpin, queenbee, etc)
Sorry if I rambled but I got the best info I could ever ask for from here, so I felt obligated to pass it onto you. Happy Hunting and Shopping!!!
