Non permanent but sturdy way to attach thermometer probes?

In my old rack I attached my thermometer probes to the tubs by putting a small hole near the rear corner and putting the probe through, then putting two small holes next to that and using the smallest loop tie, secure the cord so that the probe is flat on the bottom.

I have found this works well, and the snakes do not move it around as it is tied down securely. However, it is a pain in the butt when I want to give the tubs a thorough cleaning (i.e. run in under a tap or shower) with the probe permanently attached and trying to make sure water doesn't go to the thermometer body.

Now I am building a new rack, almost done. I have bought thermometers but am unsure what is the best way to attach it so that it is secure, yet removable. I hear hot glue but I don't see how that is easily removable because you would have to melt the glue or rip it off which would leave the glue residue on the probe/cord, and reattach with more hot glue.

What is a good way to non permanently but securely fasten a probe to the inside of a tub? Pics appreciated.

The hot glue does come off pretty easily. That is why I like it...

    x2 hot glue works great.

Ok please explain how you get it off and re attach it after washing the tub.

Do you just peel it off and put new glue?

Also do you glue the probe itself or the end of the cord where it attaches?

Hot glue peels off very easily, then you Reglue when necessary.

You want to apply it to the cord, and I'd needed a small drop on the probe itself.

I presume the small drop is to glue to actual probe onto the bottom of the tub, instead of glueing the cord onto the side of the tank letting the probe lay flat and then tucking substrate (in my case newspaper) under the probe.

How much temperature difference, in your opinion, is there putting the probe under or above the newspaper? Not all my snakes go under the paper in fact the majority don't.

By the way, serpent merchant, are you the guy who also uses hot glue to tape your thermostat probe to heat tape? I am using electrical tape to tape it down but it doesn't seem to stick very well. I know some people use aluminium tape but I recently read that it is not recommended, is that so?

If so, do you only use a small dot? Because I don't mind ripping a thermometer probe or two, but thermostats, they are expensive.

There really shouldn't be any temperature difference between under the paper and over it... At least not a noticeable one. (depends on how thick the layer of newspaper is)

Yes, I do. I glue the probes cord to the flexwatt Using a good sized glob, and if needed use a small dot on the tip of the probe as well.
