Re: how do you spot a mysic?
It's quite difficult. I produced 14 mystics last year and held two back because they're either mystics or mojaves. I couldn't tell. It takes a keen eye (8 of them in my experience) to determine mystic from mojave.

If you pair mystic to normal it's very obvious.
If you pair Mystic to mojave it might be a bit tricky and you might want to wait a little, mojave have a green hue to them that mystic do not have.

Is the top of the eye lighter than the bottom of the eye? If so, Mystic.

for reference
My proven breeder male

And some recent hatchlings from Mystic to normal pairing.

I've said it since day 1.. Mystics look like Mojos. I'm not saying they are identical... I think they just have some similarities, especially in the pattern.
I have a hard time spotting the difference .

The way it was explained to me is that where the flames/blushing comes up from the belly is more a white hue then the golden you see on Mojaves. That, as well as they show more of a black coloration compared to the brown of Mojaves. But based on the picture that Deborah shared, that kind of kills that for me.
Here's a picture o mine that bred this year. Still waiting on the eggs to drop from the dame.

From every picture I've seen of a mystic I've noticed 1 thing every time.
You know how pastels "brown out"
A mystic looks like a mojave that's done the same.
