what is a good average ball python temprature?
my snake is is around 86 degrees is this too hot?

Well theyre cold blooded so when they wanna be hot they be hot and when they wanna be cold they be cold...
Its not like humans where if we arent 98.6F we implode...

Like Mike said, their temps will vary depending on where they are in their enclosure.

Don't worry about the snakes temperature... As long as you provide a good thermal gradient of approxatmetly 80-90 degrees in the cage (cool side/hot side) your snake will regulate its temperature.

The other problem is if you measure you hand it will be different from a measurement from under your tongue core temp and surface is not the same thing. I read somewhere (I wish i could remember where so if anyone knows where core temps are please let me know) That the target core temp was about 85-7ºF but that is from memory and from an un known source.
