    Feeding Interval and Hide Questions!

    Hello wonderful people!

I received my BP on May 30th. She's 80 grams. I fed her on June 5th, and again on June 12th. Is 7 days a correct interval between feedings? Or shall I do something like 5 days? 6 days? And yes, the size of the mouse is correct for her girth.

She has two hides, not identical. For now I am using heat lamps, will be switching to UTH soon (and yes, it will be regulated.) One is on the hot side and the other is more towards the cool side. [The one on the cool side is next to her water bowl, and strikes a good temperature for the cool side.] She mainly uses the hot hide. I know the hot hide is a good size for her. But I wonder if she is not using the cool hide because of its size. I did see her in the cool hide when I woke up one morning but other than that she hasn't been in it since we got the hot hide. But the cool hide doesn't touch all of her sides, and I could probably fit two of her in there. Should I add a waded piece of paper or some kind of space filler?

Also I was holding her on June 7th and had no problems with getting her out. She wasn't in a ball, but her neck made an S but not tightly. My dog walked past (who was about 3-4 feet away, and on a lower level than where I was holding my girl) and she stretched out her neck but it was still kind of in the S position. Is there anything specifically I should be doing with that? I am not worried about it but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I feed my little guys every 4 days and bigger BP's every 8. That said every 7 days is perfectly acceptable.

It is possible that your BP doesn't like the cool side hide. Identical hides would fix this issue... My ball pythons spend the majority of the time on the hot side.

I wouldn't be worried or do anything about the S-position when handeling.

As The Serpent Merchant said, feeding every week works good. I feed all my snakes once a week.

Also, the larger enclosure your ball python lives in, the more hides will have to be add. I got my ball pythons in racks, which means I only use maximum 1 hide per tub. Good luck !
