First ball escape...
Just hours before we are leaving on our two week vacation I discovered our pastel female got out of her tub. All my fault, too. Her tub is one of only two shelves in our big 11 tub rack that doesn't have a back to it and I must have shoved her tub a little too far in. This was our first ball python that has ever escaped from one of our racks. Ungrateful little brat flew the coop, even after I had just moved her up to a bigger tub here recently! Guess that wasn't good enough for her because she wanted the whole house.
The good news is I found her after frantically tearing apart the house. She was clear on the other side of our house in a freezing cold closet between a couple rubbermaid tubs. If she was a higher animal like a dog I would feel the need to put her back in her smaller tub as punishment since she got plenty of time to roam around. Maybe bump her temp up a degree or two too just to tick her off since she wanted it ice cold (I measured that spot at 61 degrees). Felt great to me, I can't imagine it being comfortable for her.
Now I'm gunna be paranoid the entire trip of someone going walkabout, even though I'm gunna have family taking care of them while we're gone. Now to go do my final inspection before we leave. Bleh!

Glad you found her! Get a back on that rack, or at least a stop.

Oh yeah! All the other occupied tubs have backings except hers and the unoccupied slot below her. It made me literally sick there for half an hour until I found her. The most I would have been able to do if I didn't find her was pay family to tear apart the house further and hope they find her. Maybe leave water around and some heating pads with hides and turn up the heat a bit. We have close to $10,000 invested in this trip, so we weren't about to cancel on the hope that we might have found her. Harsh, but that is the reality of it.

Congrats on finding her. I've gotta ask - where are you going and what are you doing?

Yup, that was me. I rented a nice cabin in Wyoming for the two weeks. Going on a vacation adds up quickly once you factor in first class plane fare, 3 bedroom cabin rental during the height of tourist season, car rental, 4wheeler rentals, gas, food and of course you gotta do all the fun stuff like river rafting, swimming in the hot springs, jet skiing, Yellowstone National Park, museums, rodeos, going on guided dinosaur digs (for my wife since she loves dinosaurs, I used to do this for free during the summer when I lived in WY) and more. I forget exactly what I figured it was going to cost us, but it was getting awful close to the $10k mark. Scary, I know, but we only live once. If we were on a budget we could have done it for $3,000 or less, but we haven't been on a vacation in over 3 years, so we spared no expense.
Next is Las Vegas this fall. We will definitely be a bit more frugal with that one.

Thanks. We will certainly try. I know I can't wait to get on the plane and freak my wife out. She is absolutely terrified of flying. Muahaha!
