I bred my female Albino to a Pied this year. Everything has been going pretty good. She ovulated on 4/13 and had her Post Ovy Shed on 5/1. I am anticipating eggs around the first week of June give or take. When I hold her up I can literally count the eggs. Well this past weekend she looked like she was going to shed again and on 5/30 she completed a second shed.

So is it normal for a snake to shed twice between her ovy date and prior to laying? Do I restart the 30 day counter from the second shed?

You may have mistaken building for an ovulation. I'm not sure how many ovulations you've seen but many new breeders make this mistake. I did my first year breeding.

If you are sure it was an ovulation...

I had that happen twice and got slugs about a week after the second shed. I then had a female do it last year and was bummed that I'd get slugs again. I talked to several breeders I know and they had good clutches when this happened. About a week later I got a good clutch of eggs. I guess the first two may have been flukes. Good luck!

I never thought about possibly missing the ovy. This is only my second year breeding so it is possible that it was just building. At least I hope so. My first thought was all slugs so I guess time will tell. Thanks for the responses.
