mystics???

Ok I've been wanting a mystic potion for a long time now. Im not the kind of person to just whip out a wad of cash (I dont have it. lol) and buy it. I would rather be patient and raise up what I need to produce it and make it myself. I find it much more gratifing this way. So i've been watching the price on mystics and they have really been dropping as of late. So when I came across this kingsnake ad I was stoked.

Here's the problem. I've been looking for awhile and the pics he has just dont really match up to what I expect a mystic to look like. I am not an expert on mystics by anymeans and was wondering if anyone that has experience with them could tell me their oppinion of them or if they have any past dealings with the breeder. The breeder listing them doesnt have a website posted in the ad so I can do any home work on him. I just hate not being confident but would also kick myself for missing out on such a deal. Then again the only Mystic I have seen in person is my own female from Tim Bailey, and I'm sure there can be variations of how dark or light they can be. I think the Mystic may be one of those morphs where you want to stick with a well known breeder(this coming from someone who also plans to produce his own Mystic Potion and has no reputation at all)

I would only buy a Mystic/Phantom from a trusted breeder that is producing Potions as well.

thank you. now yours if i was told it was a mystic i would say yes that is just from the research i've done. but the ones in that add worry me even though i know the price is awesome and morphs can vary quite a bit I believe im gonna have to pass. ive been seeing them for $1200 to a $1000 guess i'll wait and try for a 2013 baby ;(

So if someone has a mystic but only breeds it to a normal you would not buy it because it was not bred to a mojave and did not produce a potion?

Not exactly. But, I would want to see that they are producing Potions with their stock. One from a Potion clutch would be even better though. Hey, I can be picky.

I will say before I bought mine the pics I was seeing online never really looked that good. The male I bought is amazing to me when I saw him in person I had to have him. I don't know if there color doesn't show up in pics that good or if some are just brighter than others. I would be happy to produce just mystics themselves if I can get my male breeding. My goal is to make a Mystic Russo this year just have to keep my fingers crossed for that.

I have a male phantom. he is being breed to 2 female mojaves a spider and a few normals. the problem is with breeding him to the mojaves to produce the purple passions. anything thats mojave/phantom looking you cannot be 100% sure if its mojave or phantom. the same goes for the mystic. when I purchase my phantom, the breeder produces purple passions. but the breeding that my male came from was phantom x normal. so his phantom was proven to produce the passions.

what I heard is there's many phantoms/mystics that were sold that's turning out being just mojaves.

most likely why the other posts said to buy from someone you trust. I totally agree

Ok so thanks to those that let me know about this thread... Next They are 100% Mystics my breeder male was purchased from Dan Wolfe and I trust him completely and I don't think he is producing Potions either. this was my 2nd clutch from my male the first clutch I produced 2 Mystic Spiders that I kept back. I am not Producing Potions Because I am making other crosses that I see as more valuable to me with my breeder Mojave and Mystic females. I am breeding my Mojave Female to My Hidden Gene Woma Granite Male. I am Breeding my Mystic female To a Coral Glow Male. (she is building now I cant Wait!!!) So if you only want to buy Potions from some one breeding them to Mojaves I hope they pick out the right ones for you.
